Dear Parent,
It’s that time again and
we are looking forward to an exciting 2007-2008 school year. I
will be teaching your child Science, Math, Language Arts/Reading, Social
Studies and vocational/daily living skills. The curriculum in the
Life Skills class is designed to facilitate the mastery of the students’
Individual Educational Plans (I.E.P.). Every student has the
opportunity to learn through modified teaching strategies utilizing
student-centered, interactive materials and organizational skills at the
level of the student’s ability. Each student will receive
individual instruction as he or she needs it. In addition, we will
be taking several field trips to provide community instruction and
practical application of the skills being taught in class.
Most work will be done in the classroom.
Grades will be averaged according to the policy described in the Student
Handbook. The grading scale for Wharton ISD is as follows:
90-100 = A
80-89 = B
75-79 = C
70-74 = D
<70 = F

Your child will be expected to comply with
the following Classroom Rules:
Enter Quietly
Raise you hand for permission to speak;
Do not touch another person or their belongings.
Do not sit in the teacher’s chair or open the teacher’s desk drawers.
Failure to follow the classroom rules will result
in disciplinary action.

I will also be acting as
Case Manager for your child. My responsibilities include
monitoring their progress in other classes, making sure the IEP
modifications are being implemented, sending progress reports home every
six weeks and developing IEP goals for the next school year.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns at (979)
