What’s It All About:
In Technology Applications,
students use computers, assorted software programs, the Internet, a
digital camera, and a scanner to complete a wide variety of projects.
Come in each day ready to give every task your very best. I'll do the
same. If we do that, you will leave here with the skills you need to
accomplish any new technology task that comes your way. |

Making the Grade:
Most work is hands-on and
performance based.
WJHS has adopted a standardized
grading system. Six weeks grades will be based on daily assignments,
projects, tests and the six weeks exam. Test and project averages will
count 50%, daily work will count 35% and the six week's exam will count
15%. The total of the 3 six weeks averages will count as 85% of the
semester average and the semester exam will count as the remaining 15%. |

Tutorials:
Students who attend class daily,
participate fully and complete all assignments in a timely manner will
be successful. If a student misses class for any reason, it is his/her
responsibility to get the missed work from me and to arrange extra lab
time, if needed. I am available for extra lab time and tutorials as
follows:
Tuesday - Friday - 7:40-7:55
Monday - Thursday- 3:15-3:40. |

FYI: The Nitty-Gritty
Software we use includes Microsoft Office XP and Internet Explorer.
We use Dell computers with
the Windows XP operating system, but comparable programs are also
available for the Macintosh computer.
Students will complete several projects throughout the year using this
equipment.
Students use computers and related
hardware and software daily to accomplish the following goals:
- Understand common terminology
and basic operations
- Use key applications (word
processing, graphics tools, databases, spreadsheets, web-browsers, and
presentation software) and hardware (computers, scanners, digital
cameras)
- Become aware of ethical,
safety, and legal issues involving technology use in our society
