Wharton Junior High Student Council

Our student council is an award-winning organization that contributes much to the campus life here at the junior high. They have won “Outstanding Student Council” from the Texas Association of Student Councils (TASC) 10 years in a row. They have also won the “Sweepstakes” Award seven years in a row. Their activities include drug, safety, and health education, pride and patriotism projects, energy awareness, and community service projects.

They have served as Vice-President, Secretary, and President of the Houston-area student council district over the years, and their sponsor, Janice McDonald, is currently serving as District Advisor. She was also nominated by her fellow sponsors as “Sponsor of the Year” on two occasions.
