  • The Wharton Athletic Booster Club will be hosting the Wharton High School Varsity All-Sports Banquet on Tuesday, May 20th, at the Wharton Civic Center.  A Bar-B-Que dinner from Hinze’s will be served beginning at 6:30pm.  Varsity athletes attend free of charge.  For all others, the cost is $7.00 per adult or $5.00 per student.  Tickets are available for purchase at the WISD Education Support Center and the Wharton High School Office.  Please come out and support our athletes!
  • Juniors – if you plan to exclude an elective class from your GPA for 2nd semester you must let Mrs. Kacer know before you take 6wks exams for Marking Period 6. To be eligible for this exclusion, you must be enrolled in seven classes 2nd semester. Please see Mrs. Kacer for the form that is to be signed by student and parent. The deadline to turn in this exclusion is Thursday, May 22-3:30 PM.

  • Students: Don’t forget to exercise your right to choose your class officers.  Voting takes place this Wednesday, in the foyer, before and after school and at lunch.

  • Teachers and Students: You are invited to attend a Spring Concert performed by the WJHS Band and the WHS Band on Thursday, May 8 at 7:00 p.m. in the WHS auditorium.

  • If you participated in a VARSITY sport this year, you will be recognized at the WABC Varsity All-Sports Banquet on Tuesday, May 20th.  Please stop by the office and get your ticket to the banquet from Mrs. Watson.

  • Attention Young Ladies who are interested in singing the Messiah with the Wharton ISD choir in London: Big Ben, London Bridge, and Stonehenge are waiting for your arrival. Making a decision on whether or not to participate in this endeavor will be easier after you read the brochure now available. This is guaranteed to be a life-changing event, and you might be interested to find out that the price is much more reasonable than was formerly believed. See Mrs. Huggins for papers and information. The deadline to sign up is May 26th

  • It has come to our attention that there may be some teachers and students who believe school is over now that the TAKS test is over. Please understand we have 3 weeks left. It is expected that we all teach and learn until school ends.

  • Attention National Honor Society members. Your proof of service hours are due to Dr. Sharp no later than Friday, May 16th, at 3:30. Seniors need 10 hours, and juniors need 15 to retain NHS membership status.

  • Reminder: Student Council representative petitions are due Thursday, May 8, by 3:30.

  • Student Council will meet on Tuesday, May 13, in the foyer.  See sponsors to order pizza.

  • All returning and new Tiger Stars who ordered jazz boots or jazz shoes need to come by the Studio tomorrow, May 8, after school to try them on.  If they do not fit we still have time to exchange them.  If you cannot make it, you need to make arrangements with Mrs. Taylor for another day.

  • Attention Spanish Club members. If you plan to join us for the Zuma Fun Center Lock-in on Friday, May 16th, you will need to pick up a permission slip for yourself and your guest if you are eligible to bring one. Money is due Monday the 12th. Signed permission slips are to be returned to a Spanish teacher by 3:30 on Thursday the 15th.

  • A senior class ring was found and turned into the front office. If you are missing your class ring, please come and claim it in the front office.

  • Reminder for anyone interested in the Europe trip for Spring Break 2009. Please turn in your registration form and $95 down payment to Dr. Sharp no later than Friday at 3:30.

  • Congratulations to the WHS Boys Baseball team!  The Tigers will play the Giddings Buffaloes on May 2 & 3 according to the following schedule:

  • The WHS Faculty & Staff would like to thank Student Council members and sponsors for the TAKS treat bags. This was a nice surprise during such a hectic week. Thanks!!

  • The office staff would like to thank Mrs. Domel’s, Mrs. Morgan’s & Mrs. Quinn’s classes for the secretary gifts. They truly brightened our day!

  • PLAN AHEAD FOR NEXT YEAR'S SPRING BREAK.  COME TAKE A BITE OUT OF THE BIG APPLE--5 NIGHTS AND 6 DAYS IN NEW YORK CITY.  WE WILL SEE 5-6 SHOWS AS WELL AS GO SIGHT SEEING, SHOPPING AND EATING.  I WILL BE GETTING OUT FLYERS SOON, BUT BEGIN THINKING ABOUT IT NOW.  PRICES ARE GOING UP EVERY YEAR (AS THEY ARE FOR EVERYTHING), SO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE OPPORTUNITY BEFORE IT GETS TOO EXPENSIVE.  IF YOU EVEN REMOTELY THINK THAT YOU WOULD BE INTERESTED, PLEASE LET ME KNOW.  YOU CAN REPLAY THROUGH EMAIL OR CALL ME AT HOME OR THE STUDIO.  MORE INFORMATION SOON.
