Third Grade Students have class on Thursday mornings.
Students are up to their elbows in patterns, sequences and mathematics. They are studying patterns in nature and learning about the Fibonacci sequence, the Pascal Triangle, symmetry, tessellations, and the Golden ratio or Phi. They will form study groups and thoroughly research one of the above after writing a research proposal. They will find a way to teach their concept interactively to the students of Sivells when they hold a Pattern Fair. They will differentiate their findings to make it appropriate for the understanding of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade students. .

Second Grade Students have class on Wednesdays.
The students are involved in a study of water. They have learned how much water on Earth is in oceans, frozen and fresh. They have learned about the chemical makeup of water and will be preparing a research proposal, doing independent research in conservation, pollution or filtration topics, making notes cards and a bibliography page. Some of the students are even conducting/demonstrating experiments with water for the class. At the conclusion of the unit, the students will produce a public service announcement about their chosen topic or create an invention to aid in their topic area.

First Grade Students have class on Tuesdays.
First Grade GT students are involved in a study of animals. They have learned how to set up and take a survey, consolidate data on a graph from the survey, and even made up a worksheet for the math teachers in first grade to use with their classes. They will focus their study now to an animal they are interested in, learn to write a research proposal, use research skills and resources, make notecards, set up a bibliography page, and use PowerPoint to make a presentation about what they learned. They will include a prognosis for their animal's existence if we keep impacting their habitat.
