Dear Parent:
Our school district is governed by state law and one of the statutes is the Texas Public Information Act. The Texas Public Information Act makes it mandatory for us to give out directory information on our students upon request. As you might expect, school districts are an easy source for people and businesses to obtain much public information. However, Federal law under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) does allow parents to withhold directory information if they so choose.
This letter is to give you, the parent, the opportunity to refuse the release of "directory information". An example of directory information would be a students name, address, and phone number.
Please check your preference for releasing "directory information" on the bottom of this page and have your child return it to their teacher/campus office.
Please note: If the form is not returned, we are obligated to give out the information on request.
PLEASE RETURN THIS TO YOUR TEACHER/CAMPUS OFFICE
------ No, I do not want directory information on my child released.
------ Yes, the district may release directory information on my child to anyone who requests it.
